Trunk mounted Battery...
300zdrift99 - 6/15/2006 at 21:24

Anyone ever do one of these ol' swap-a-roo's? Wanna send some weight to the rear while freeing up space under the hood. Need some idea's on mounting it and where exactly... also thinking about maybe getting a kill-switch installed also. My Z32 is eventually going to be a race car so why not now? Plus I'm getting another DD soon so I won't be driving the Z everyday! Give me some input... lee[ in mind i will also have a nitrous bottle in the car too and a fuel cell is probable in the future....

In a 2+2's case it's almost balanced 50/50 already Jorge. At least that's what I thought, but now that I am typing I just realized that I have your seats in my car which just totally changes what I was thinking.
I'm gonna stop typing now.

haha... those rear seats weren't that heavy at all now that I think about it.

Well actually I wanted a lil' more weight towards the rear. Drag-Racing... y'know?

Someone broke the news on 3ZC that Rich races with a gutted car. Maybe your efforts to manipulate weight aren't that big of a deal. How fast do you plan to make this thing?

300zdrift99 - 6/25/2006 at 16:11

In all honestly I'm trying to make an 11 second non-turbo Z32 (I won't say "NA" because I'm using nitrous). I know, I know... I've heard the TT lecture and 'You're just wasting $$$ on that NA' bit. I doubt I'd get any faster than 11 seconds without having a full gutted interior, Acrylic windows, and no head-lights, etc.

It's gonna be pretty sick if it works out the way I'm planning. Forged Internals, Upgraded and lightend valve-train, Upgraded AT, a bunch of suspension mods, DRAG radials, and 150-shot+ of nitrous, etc, etc.

Jorge do you have any experiance with fiberglass?
Cause maybe you can make a fiberglass replica of your headlights or make it one piece with the center panel. Just a thought to reduce weight some more. Oh and take the moulding off of your car and the carpet. Which you know I'll take the carpet off your hands.

300zdrift99 - 6/25/2006 at 17:02

^ No, but... ^ I thought about maybe about looking into maybe getting plastic replacements for the glass.

Some panel replica's would be cool although I would'nt be able to drive the car back home at night plus I'm not sure if that would ge me out of the Street Class... If I was to get out of the street class I would definately get rid of alot of stuff like the dash, windoes, side-mirrors, etc. But I'm not so sure the car would be competitive in a race-Class... but who knows?

Hurry up. Can't wait to see your ride after it's done.

300zdrift99 - 6/25/2006 at 17:27

It's gonna take some time...

Spyder Z 15 - 6/26/2006 at 08:21

Eliminate your HICAS Jorge. That'll save weight. :bandit::cool2:

300zdrift99 - 6/26/2006 at 10:04

Haha... yeah.

Been thinking baout some FRP fenders too. Just not sure how much they weigh...

Spyder Z 15 - 6/28/2006 at 08:11

Hey Jorge are you gonna take off your door panels? There might be some more stuff I'll take off your hands. You should remove your moulding too.

300zdrift99 - 6/28/2006 at 08:51

If I go that route, Dustin. You'll be the first to know.

Off-Topic: I'm thinking about buying a Powder Coater to make some extra cash for my project...

Oooooooooooo. I might be giving you some business once I really dive into my project.
And yeah let me know about those door panels. Any tears BTW?

300zdrift99 - 6/28/2006 at 11:45

Yeah I'm really thinking about it... just need to make myself an oven. And you know I'll hook up fellow Empire Z'ers with some good prices.

Nope. Those panels are clean as a whistle. I'll let you know when the time comes, Dustin.

Nice.
