I bought a new space saver spare tire recently. I want to know if I can use a fix-a-flat can from an auto parts store or a compressor to fill it.
Or, do I have to buy the OEM Nissan Tire Inflator. When I had my old one, I filled it at a gas station using the compressor and after driving about
five miles, my spare tire literally melted. I don't want to go through this again, it was difficult finding a 300zx spare tire.
Please help.
Here is my info:
Yes you can use a fix-a-flat can spray on it, but it will get messy with the liquid, etc when you deflate it. I had my spare on and ran over a nail.
My only choice was to do it. Like I said it worked but it is not ideal.
As for replacing them, they are very difficult. I went to the dealership where they told me that I could no longer oder it through them. So I went
to a Firestone shop ( I believe that is who makes them) and ordered one. After 6 months of waiting, they called me and gave me my money back.
What I ended up doing was going to twinturbo.net and asking about them. Someone contacted me and I purchased a "newer" one from him. Think it has
been used once or twice.
They are definitely a PITA to replace.
During a flat once, AAA filled it up with regular compressed air. I drove on it for 70 miles with no problems. When I got home, I simply let the air out and put it back in the trunk. Why didn't I use the Nissan air canistor you say? Well, it exploded one sunny summer day last year in my trunk and it left a really bad mess. Luckily I wasn't in the car when it happened.
Are you guys talking about the spare????
