Empire Z is happy to feature Armando A.'s early 1974
260Z as our May 2013 Z of the Month. Armando bought the car
new in November 1974 at Atlantic Datsun in East Los Angeles.
After owning the car for 20 years, someone decided to "borrow" it,
but fortunately it was recovered 3 months later. The car still
has many original parts, including the 4-speed tranny and 5-slot
mags from the dealer. However, there have been some updates
and modifications. The L26 has been swapped to an L28 and headers
have been added. The flat-top carbs have been replaced with
round-top SUs and were recently rebuilt at ZTherapy, and the air box
has been replaced with wire mesh filter covers. In addition,
the distributor has been updated to an electronic ZX version and the
original A/C didn't last long, so it has since been updated.
The car started out brown on brown, but changed to charcoal and is
currently silver with a black interior. Armando did most of
the interior work himself. He has also added a CD player and
alarm. Under the newer vented hood, Armando's engine really
shines. Many parts have been polished or chromed, including an
oil filter cover and a spark plug wire organizer made by R Rated
Motorsports. It is easy to see that a lot of time and energy
have gone into Armando's Z over the years and we hope you enjoyed
checking it out.
Thanks for looking!
John M. on behalf of Armando A.
