I'm happy to have my 240z be Empire Z car of the month for December.

I purchased my 1971 240z about 6yrs ago from a lady named Paula who was the second owner. According to her the car was imported through Texas she drove it across country a couple of times. In one of her trips she picked up a hitch hiker couple and a dog around Arizona and drove them to Long Beach, CA and managed to fit them in the Z.

I purchased the car for $900 drove to Costa Mesa to go look at it, the car was in ruff shape. Rust in fender and rear deck and the rubber gaskets were gone. But I was going to restore it completely, so I didn't care, so I bought it, managed to drive back to the Inland Empire without passing out by the exhaust fumes. That same week I started tearing the car apart to send it to media blasting. I did most of the body work myself except for the front fenders. I had a shop fix the rust since I didn't have a welder during that time. I paid $350 for someone to paint the car Arctic White in the garage of my parents house in the middle of the summer. It wasn't fun for the guy who was doing it since the fumes were really bad.

The suspension was all sandblasted and powder coated red since I wanted it to stand out.

It has all new suspension bushings and Illumina struts, Eibach front springs and stock rear.

240sx rear disk brakes with 240sx emergency handbrake that I had to custom fit to on the driver side of the transmission tunnel. Front disk brakes using 300zx turbo aluminum calipers and Thunderbird rotors. Has a 280zx 5 speed Transmission with a R200 differential.

The engine is a L28 which I rebuilt myself with weber 32/26 carbs, MSA 6-1 headers.

I did most of the interior my self from upholstering the 300zx seats to adding sound deadening on the inside. But I still have a lot left to be done.

The future modifications I'm planning on doing is installing the triple webers, and installing the Subaru STI r180 LSD should be finished by early next year.

I probably spent between $10-15k this includes the car and tools I had to buy to get to what I have now.
